The Internet Is Freaking Out Because a Saudi Prince Just Bought 80 Plane Seats For His Falcons

Ahmet Yasar recently Tweeted a picture from an A330 plane, headed to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with the following caption: “My captain friend sent me this photo… Saudi prince bought ticket for his 80 hawks.”

Apparently it’s not uncommon to for wealthy people from Arab countries to transport their birds via plane, and falcons even can have their own passports! The UAE government issued over 28,000 falcon passports (around $130 each) between 2002-2013 – and these auspicious birds can carry a price tag of up to $250,000.

Etihad, Qatar and other airlines will allow falcons to be passengers on flights for an additional cost of up to $630 per bird depending on the destination (Qatar Airlines pricing).
